My introduction to entrepreneurship came out of necessity, I had an internship that I loved but there was a hiring freeze, I tried the corporate job only to be disregarded at every opportunity. Then after being laid off — I was tired! Tired of relying on everyone else. Tired of working to support other people’s dreams. Tired of feeling like my success, my dreams, my life were at the mercy of other people’s decisions or other people’s opinions. I knew there had to be a better way.

After that I discovered oDesk (currently: Upwork) and I started freelancing, taking any job I could find just to get experience. It was great! I gained experience, I worked for a lot of big companies, big name clients in the online world. But I still felt unfulfilled. And I had an ever bigged problem that I didn’t know about yet…

I was a solopreneur doing all the things, meeting clients, fulfilling on work, you name it – I did it! But it wasn’t sustainable. After catching the flu that winter, I lost all of my clients because I was in bed for over a week, couldn’t work, and everyone left. Because the business was me and I was the business, we were one — and not in a cool Avatar kinda way, but in a if-I-don’t-do- it-it-doesn’t-get-done kinda way. So after recovering from the flu, I hired a team, organized my business, built systems, processes, procedures, and automation that would run without me.
